LANXESS Sponsors Newspapers in Education Earth Day Initiative

Newspaper Activity Guide Educates Students about Global Warming

In a partnership with The Cincinnati Enquirer’s and The Cincinnati Post’s Newspapers in Education program, the Lustran Polymers business unit of LANXESS Corporation is sponsoring an initiative to educate students about global warming, alternative energy sources and practical ways to protect the environment in honor of Earth Day.

From April 17, through April 20, teachers and students received newspapers containing a 16-page activity-filled teacher’s guide titled, “Earth Day: Global Warming.”  The guide is designed to engage students in a creative way that varies from traditional classroom teaching, using an authentic text – the newspaper – to teach them ways they can help protect the planet.

Benefits of the Newspapers in Education program include encouraging daily newspaper reading among students, adding creativity to classroom lessons, and helping to bridge the gap between the real world and the classroom.
