Lustran Polymers Makes Key Investment in Color Excellence
The Lustran Polymers business unit has recently upgraded its Addyston, Ohio-based Color Excellence Center (CEC) to serve the NAFTA region.
This investment will support a fast and professional color matching service with an average turnaround time of less than five days, making it easy to quickly launch new pre-colored ABS, SAN, ASA, AES, ASA/AES/PC or ABS/Nylon resins in customer-specific colors.
To support the color focus, the CEC has invested in new all-electric direct-drive molding machines and new color molds that include many of the textures and surface finishes required to demonstrate proper color development and accuracy.
The Lustran Polymers NAFTA Region’s CEC is linked electronically to a global color database, which is used by all of the Lustran Polymers facilities around the world. This database provides a centralized source of color information covering a wide range of markets and applications. This data supports the documentation and characterization of different color shades, formulations, names and codes that have already proven successful in the marketplace and extends Lustran Polymers’ recognition and understanding of customers’ color needs. In addition, all of the color spectrophotometers are calibrated daily and verified through blind independent testing, and several of the color technicians have many years of color-matching experience.
Not only does the CEC develop new product colors, it also directly supports the efforts to scale up and commercialize new color products. Samples, up to 400 pounds, can be quickly produced and shipped within North America or any other region of the world – driving the Business Unit’s slogan “The Colorful Difference.”
